John Dewall, CEO of Mercedez-Benz explains, “there are 25 Starbucks within a fifty mile radius so if we just buy a small cup of coffee at each one our entire corporate office can work there the whole day for about fifty bucks.
“Our legal department works next to the bathroom where they pretend to wait in line. If someone complains we just walk them over towards the bathroom and one of the lawyers threatens a lawsuit. It works every time.”
Mercedez-Benz has found this experience to be, “good practice” for their legal team who regularly sues baristas for 4.5 million dollars if their latte isn’t, “foamy enough.”
One employee, who wished to remain anonymous, explained how this billion dollar company starts each workday,
“We arrive right when it opens, grab a window-seat for the CEO, ask to use the phone, (which becomes our corporate office number) and begin the workday.”
Dewall pointed out one last tactic,
“We ask our human resources team not to take a shower more than once a month. If we need to use a table that is currently occupied, one of them just stands near it.
No human being could tolerate that bad of a smell, so they stand up and it’s ours! This is the kind of clever innovation that Mercedez-Benz stands for!
